Buddhist pilgrimage

Make a pilgrimage in the footsteps of Buddhism

Buddhism is about the way, not the goal.

Faith plays a major role in Thailand: With the exception of just 0.4% of the country's residents, almost all people here describe themselves as belonging to a certain religion. Most of them profess what is known as Theravada Buddhism, which has a long history in the nation of Southeast Asia and is therefore the typical traditional Thai belief.

We make a pilgrimage from the resort to the Wat Pha Khu Kheaw temple and back.

Every small place in Thailand has its own temple (wat). We offer you the opportunity to make a pilgrimage from our resort to Wat Pha Khu Kheaw. Here we spend time to get to know the life of the temple community and to chant and meditate together.

Buddhist monks

The Buddhist monks of tradition eventually cross the path of every tourist sooner or later. The monks are extremely respected within the country and are among the most respected members of society.

Feeding the monks

The so-called feeding of the monks is also part of the Thai tradition. The rest of the inhabitants of the towns and villages often prepare food with the first stroke of the bell in order to then prepare a wide variety of dishes for the temple residents. Afterwards, the monks make a pilgrimage to the houses of the residents and gratefully accept the dishes. Thais understand this act of generosity as a "tambun", a mixture of showing respect and doing a good deed. This meal is especially important for the monks: Since they are only allowed to have one meal a day, namely at 11 a.m., this feeding is one of the most elementary components of their daily life.
